Good morning little cuttlefish

Hi,

today again a bit animal stuff :) I saw just that I wrote already about cuttlefish (at that time about natural torpedo).

Cuttlefish is a subfamily of the octopus and I see them from time to time when I go snorkeling.

They are really cut little animals :) They live close to the bottom and bury themselves half in the sand when they sleep. They are also masters of camouflage (take a look in the movie how they change the colors). Thereby they are hard to find. I can find them best when they sleep. Last time I could make a cute video, cause I have a small tripod for my underwater camera. I could put the camera direct in front of a sleeping cuttlefish (without it recognized it) and record its waking up. Awesome cute! :)

After it I was teasing it a bit and was following it – as long my air let me stay under water. I believe it wasn’t very happy about it… direct after getting up to be teased from a monster :) But therefore it cut quite a figure and I came partly very close to it.

But have a look by yourself. It’s seldom to get so close to an cuttlefish. They are quick and shy. Have fun!

Guten Morgen kleiner Sepia (Tintenfisch)

Hallo,

heute mal wieder etwas tierisches. :) Ich habe gerade gesehen das ich schon mal über die Sepien geschrieben habe (damals noch als „natürlichen Torpedo„).
Sepien sind eine Unterfamilie der Tintenfische und ich sehe sie des Öfteren wenn ich Schnorcheln gehe.

Es sind sehr putzige kleine Burschen :) Sie leben in Bodennähe und vergraben sich halb, wenn sie schlafen. Auch sind sie Meister in der Tarnung (achte im Film mal auf die Farbänderungen). Dadurch nur eher schwer zu finden. Am besten finde ich sie wenn sie im Sand schlafen. (Mehr Informationen zu Sepien auf Wikipedia.)

Da ich jetzt ein kleines Stativ an meiner Unterwasserkamera habe, konnte ich letztens ein süßes Video aufnehmen. Ich konnte die Kamera direkt vor einem schlafenden Sepia positionieren (ohne das er es merkte) und ihn beim Aufwachen filmen. Total süß! :)

Danach habe ich ihn noch ein bisschen geärgert und bin ihm – soweit meine Luft reichte – gefolgt. Ich glaube er fand das nicht so toll… direkt nach dem Aufwachen schon von einem Monster verfolgt zu werden :) Aber dafür hat er eine gute Figur gemacht und ich bin teilweise recht nah rangekommen.

Schaut euch das Video mal an. So nah kommt man sicher nur selten an einen Sepia heran. Viel Spaß.
